Glenallachie Sherry 15years

The warm, rich and fruity character of sherry cask whisky is something we enjoy at Glenallachie. The original founders of the distillery in 1967 were quick to recognise that sherry casks could play a very positive role in trans¬forming the light fruitiness of our new spirit into the deep, complex malt we have today.

Glenallachie Sherry 15years was founded in 1967. Centrally located at the heart of Speyside our traditional copper pot stills produce a sweet and fruity personal style. Created using quality oloroso and moscatel sherry casks, this fruity expression has a good sherried character balanced with some honey and spicy vanilla.

It smells like grapes, dried fruit and toffee, while the taste is full of flavor with more pastry, raisins and nuts. Sherry cask finishing has taken a life of its own over the past few years. Here is a perfect example of how it can elevate a spirit to that ‘Next level’ effect by really putting an emphasis on the right things such as spice and dried fruits. The 15 year old expression from Glenallachie Sherry 15years offers excellent value for money. Only one question remains: which next distillery will come up with a similar beauty?

The Glenallachie is one of the most legendary distilleries in the Speyside region. It was closed for some time, but was taken over by Billy Walker, George Christie and Trisha Savage in 2017. This sherry cask matured expression shows what can happen when you store whiskies for a very long time in a good barrel: it becomes full and especially sweet..

Nose: sweet, juicy, toffee and berries. Taste: rich sherry sweetness and chocolate, with autumn fruits and a touch of honey. Finish: fantastic citrus finish, with very subtle spice.
